Michelle Obama to be a guest host on 'The View'

NEW YORK - Michelle Obama will be a guest host on "The View" on June 18.

The popular ABC daytime talk show had invited her to be a guest this month, but she sent back word that she would like to be a host like Cindy McCain did in April, said Bill Geddie, the show's executive producer.

"Equal time - that's hard to argue with," he said Wednesday.

Being a guest host will allow Michelle Obama to help interview guests and participate in the opening "hot topics," or banter about what's in the news that day. It offers the chance for someone to show a more complete personality than just sitting for an interview and talking about themselves, Geddie said.

Michelle Obama was injected into the campaign when the Tennessee Republican Party posted an online video questioning her patriotism. That prompted her husband, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, to say political opponents should lay off his wife.

When Cindy McCain was guest host in April, comic Craig Ferguson was the lead guest. No guests have been booked for Michelle Obama's show yet.

Barack Obama has appeared twice on "The View," once before his candidacy for president. Republican John McCain has been on several times. Geddie said he expected the candidates to seek out a chance to reach "The View" audience during the campaign and be questioned about what is going on.

"We treat the wives differently than the candidates," Geddie said. "We're tougher on the candidates than we are on the wives. We're trying to get to know them."

'Angelina Jolie Was A Gawky Looking Girl With A Mouthful Of Braces'

Angelina Jolie was an awkward, gawky teenager when Dustin Hoffman first met her, and he never dreamed she would become an international humanitarian and sex symbol.

The actress was a big fan of the Peter Pan story growing up and so her father, Jon Voight, asked a favour of his Midnight Cowboy co-star, and invited himself and his kids onto the set of the 1991 Steven Spielberg film.

Hoffman, who played Captain Hook in the movie version of J.M. Barrie's classic tale, never imagined he'd one day be working with the girl who his friend brought to meet him.

Now co-starring with Jolie in Kung Fu Panda, Hoffman recalls: "This film was the second time I met her. The first time was on Hook and Jon Voight whom I worked with on Midnight Cowboy called me up on the set and said, 'My kids are dying to meet Captain Hook. Can I come over?'

"So he brings over his kids, he comes in the camper and I'm introduced to his son and then to his daughter.

"She was a tall, thin, gawky looking girl with a mouthful of braces. I asked them, 'Do you guys have any idea what you want to do when you grow up?' She gave me an intense laser look and said, 'I'm going to be an actress!'"

Stones fans can quiz Keef on YouTube

LONDON - The Rolling Stones and the YouTube video website have teamed up to launch a new entertainment channel.

According to a statement from the band and record label Universal, fans can upload questions to the Stones about "Shine a Light", a new documentary about the veteran rockers directed by Martin Scorsese, as well as "any other burning questions."

"By visiting www.youtube.com/livinglegends, viewers will be able to upload footage of themselves asking their questions to Mick Jagger and/or Keith Richards," the statement said.

"The best questions will be personally answered, with the subsequent footage of the Rolling Stones available to watch exclusively on this new YouTube channel in a few weeks' time."

YouTube is featuring a short video clip of Jagger and Richards to promote the channel on the main page of its site in the United States and across much of Europe and Asia.

YouTube is launching a music channel called YouTube Living Legends which invites top pop acts from around the world to communicate with fans via the popular site.

The announcement comes shortly after MySpace, the world's biggest social networking site, said it had created an online music venture with three major record companies in a challenge to Apple's iTunes Music Store.

Daniel Day Lewis - Day-lewis In Talks For Musical Role

DANIEL DAY-LEWIS is in talks to replace fellow 2008 Oscar-winner JAVIER BARDEM in a new movie version of Broadway musical NINE.

Best Supporting Actor-winner Bardem pulled out of the Rob Marshall-directed movie earlier this month (May08), complaining he is exhausted after a busy 2007.

Producers have now set their sights on Day-Lewis - who recently won the Best Actor Academy Award for a spectacular performance in There Will Be Blood.

If he accepts, the Englishman will play Guido Contini, a director struggling to juggle the many women in his life - who will be played by Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Nicole Kidman and Judi Dench.

Convincing the intensely private star to act again so soon after last year's There Will Be Blood would be a major coup; he famously leaves long gaps between projects, and has only made three pictures in the last ten years.

A spokesperson for the movie has dampened speculation by telling Variety, "Any of the names being thrown around is pure conjecture, and when we're ready to make an announcement, we'll let you know."

Footie chicks are hot to trot

BRITISH football fans finally have something to look forward to this summer.

With the national teams so noticeably absent from Euro 2008, this scorching
music video featuring a bunch of athletic women footballers kitted out and
ready for action is a sure-fire winner.

Mastermined by ALEX GAUDINO, the man behind No.4 smash hit Destination
Calabria, Watch Out looks set to be one of the club anthems of the year.

I doubt it's going to be sung from the stands, but the video's catchy beats
and scantily clad girls will certainly leave you dribbling
It's just a shame they don't swap shirts at the end. Watch Out is available to download from June 2.
